Jessica Szohr Talks Nylon Cover Look, Feather Earrings, and ‘Twilight’ Hunk Kellan Lutz

“Gossip Girl” star Jessica Szohr was in Manhattan’s trendy Meatpacking District on Tuesday night to launch the TV issue of downtown style bible Nylon magazine, the cover of which she graces. The actress chatted with StyleList, flanked by her cast mate and real-life boyfriend, Ed Westwick, Nylon editor-in-chief Marvin Scott Jarrett, model/designer Jessica Stam, “GG” co-star Leighton Meester, and actor/singer Jared Leto.

“It’s, like, waking up in your pajama shirt and your pajama shorts in the morning and throwing a blazer on that was just on your throw-chair to go make coffee in the kitchen,” the tattooed Szohr chuckled as she explained her cover look at hot spot SL. “I think it worked well!”

In practice, that meant a jacket in a strong geometric print by Suno, a long-sleeved lace top by Calvin Klein Collection and a tiny pair of shorts from Alternative Apparel. At the party, she was keeping cool in a pair of satin slacks by Chris Benz, the hip downtown designer who was also at the club to pay his regards.

“I like to be comfortable,” the Op model says of her personal style. “I think it’s cool to take risks and add a little funkiness to it, but in general. I like to be chill and easy.” She even admits that she has taken a few style tips from her “Gossip Girl” character, Vanessa Abrams.

jessica szohr: the party

When NYLON throws a party in New York, everybody arrives late. Why? Because they’re determined to be the best dressed people there.

So when Svedka Vodka, Covergirl, and Sebastian joined forces with NYLON last night for our September Issue party, we knew there would be some major contenders. There was Dani Stahl in a leopard minidress, Harley Viera-Newton in Miu Miu, and Ed Westwick in… well, okay, we couldn’t actually focus on Ed Westwick’s clothes, but he looked really good, too.

We’ve rounded up some contenders for the coolest party outfits, including Jessica Szohr and her blonde alter – ego (or evil twin?) Jessica Stam. [Source]

The actress and downtown goddess is NYLON’s new cover girl!
September marks our annual TV issue, so it’s only fitting one of our favorite CW stars takes the cover: Jessica Szohr, the former model who quickly became a modern American sweetheart, thanks to Gossip Girl and her don’t-mess-with-me portrayal of the artsy Brooklyn teenager, Vanessa.

We shot the Wisconsin native in New York City, between taping sessions of the show that launched her career.

On filming at 2 am in a lake for her new movie, Piranhas 3D:
“I was actually like, I’m going to be attacked!”

Fun Fact: Producers originally didn’t want to cast her on Gossip Girl because her straight, shiny hair was too preppy.
“I told my agent, you send every picture of my hair short, curly, black, blonde, I don’t care.”

On whose Gossip Girl clothes she would steal.
“I personally think Jenny has the best wardrobe on the show – it’s kind of grungy, but girly, without being too put together. Blair is too structured and perfect, Serena is always glammed up. Vanessa’s waaaay too much with every color and pattern. It sounds like I’m being negative about them all, but I’m not – I think they all look great. But if I was going to go shopping for [me], I’d head straight into Jenny’s closet.”

On potential Season Four plot lines:
“I keep saying they have to bring in other characters because how many times can six characters date and hook up with each other before it gets real old?”

Alexandre Aja and Jessica Szohr shoot a piranha attack

Aja: “Jessica is trying to fight the piranha and I had to give her some direction, because the piranha are CGI. She had to fight invisible fish jumping out of the water, so she had to use a lot of imagination. I had to spend so much time in the water. And not only me, the whole crew. We were all in wetsuits. It was cold even in the desert in the summer. Because no matter how hot it is, when you’re in the water past five, six hours, you get cold. So everyone was in wetsuits, and it was almost night, and Jessica was very tired. She’d fought imaginary piranha all day long.”

Nothing but positive reviews for Piranha3D

You can find more links to great reviews here: jessica szohr @ fanforum

source: dreadcentral.com The two lead kids, “The Vampire Diaries”‘s Steven R. McQueen (yes, there is a relation) and “Gossip Girl”‘s Jessica Szohr (as Jake and Kelly, respectively), while usually irritating in this kind of film, are tolerable and have some rather good scenes together.

source: e!online Casting nearly every role with familiar faces of TV/film is the quickest way to forego time-wasting character development. If Ving Rhames is onscreen, he’s gonna throw down with power tools a la Pulp Fiction. It’s easy, and it kinda works. No one sees a film called Piranha 3D for dialogue.

source: northjersey.com Mere words cannot describe how awesomely gnarly “Piranha 3D” is, how hugely entertaining, and how urgently you must get yourself to the theater to see it. Like, now.

Beauty interview with Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr

Gossip Girl returns on September 13th, and in this interview, Jessica Szohr, who plays the humble and “normal” Vanessa on the show talks about her beauty regimen and playlist. Also, her movie Piranha 3D hjts theaters tomorrow!

What is your beauty regimen?
Jessica: My skin is pretty sensitive, and I travel a lot, so being on flight and there’s all these germs and having makeup when you’re on set all day being reapplied all day long. A lot of times when I’m not at work I like to let my face breath and not put makeup on. I’m big on washing my face at night and using a lot of moisturizer. I try to switch every 3 or 4 months, but I like Dermalogica and Arcona and believe it or not but I saw an infomercial one night and I ordered Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford and that’s a great line as well. I’m big on going to bed with a clean face.

What is your fitness regimen?
Jessica: I enjoy yoga a lot, not even for the workout. I started doing it a couple of years ago and I could see the definition in my arms and my legs when I would do it so I felt like I was getting a good workout. On top of that, it’s so peaceful and good for my mind. I go yoga or sometimes I’ll just go to the gym in my building and put a treadmill on a big incline and walk for an hour while watching TV or reading a script or a book. Ill do that if I don’t have time to make it to a class. I try to balance out what I eat during the week. I’m not the healthiest eater, but I try to watch what I eat during the week. I kind of splurge on the weekends and eat french fries and pizza.

What’s on your playlist right now?
Jessica: I just got back from lollapalooza last night so I got to see all of the bands I’ve been listening to. I saw the Strokes, Phoenix, the Black Keys a lot right now, The Magnetic Zeros. I’m a fan of Katy Perry, “California Gurls” has been my summer song. [laughs] There’s a band called The Cult that I’ve started to listen to. I like listening to country in one breath, I like Jay-Z.

Would you like to send a message to fans of yourself and of the show?
Jessica: I’m always appreciative of fans. Without you we don’t have viewers or a job. Thank you for everything.

Are you on any social networking sites?
Jessica: Nope, nothing. I know there are fake ones, though.
